Redfin, a Seattle based real estate agency has a website that potential customers can utilize to find homes aided by mapping sot ware. Microsoft Virtual Earth allows search results to appear as plotted icons on the map search tool. Immediately below the map view users can see a spreadsheet of all the available homes that are plotted within the map view of the area they are searching. The whole geographically enabled search utility is very useful. The article says that they almost chose Google maps over Microsoft's software. They decided that they would go with either mapping platform as opposed to developing their own software because they didn't want to have to complete with either company in that business. I hope that the proliferation of like real estate search tools puts homes with the same locational attributes on equal footing. This is something that, in the end, will help the everyday consumer.
